About

The Americano would first have been known as Milano-Torino, a delicious aperitif created by Gaspare Campari at the end of 1860.

Its name was inspired by the two cities where the ingredients come from: Milan for the Campari and Turin for the sweet vermouth. Probably due to its great popularity with Americans during Prohibition, the cocktail changed its name around 1930. It is the ancestor of the popular Negroni.
